Transcripts of Governor's correspondence, 1809-1858.

Fieldworkers' transcripts of Illinois Governors' general correspondence (1809-1857), and military correspondence (1829-1834 and 1836-1858) contains letters which were either copied in full, with identifying mark notes, or entered on a manuscript work sheet. Work sheet information includes fieldworker's name and date; manuscript date; author's name, birth and death dates; place manuscript written; manuscript type; recipient address and name; letter body transcription; authorship symbol; language; page count and dimensions; location; format (i.e., handwritten; typed); collection name; seal, enclosures, envelope, and stamp descriptions; use restrictions; paper condition; and ink type. Calendar drafts for general correspondence (1809-1853), and index to persons, places, and titles of publications are also listed in the calendar.

The Board of Fund Commissioners was created by l. 1837, p. 121. Board contracted for and negotiated all loans authorized by General Assembly for internal improvements and signed and executed all bonds or stock certificates issued for such loans. Monies received from proceeds of loans were deposited at State Bank of Illinois and Bank of Illinois at Shawneetown.
